“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.” 1 Peter 2:24

Fellow Christians, Christ has redeemed us with his blood. Because of him, we no longer live according to the dictates of this world, the gates of hell cannot prevail over us, the covenant of hell has been broken, the yoke of darkness has been taken off our shoulders and above all death cannot hold us captive.

Why then do we quaver, when tribulations come? Why do we believe the lie of the enemy that our sins committed are ruling us? Why are we afraid of the one that can kill the flesh but not the soul? The answer is simple: we are busy doing the things of the world, allowing principles of the world to creep in and corrupt the truth we have learned.

The significance of the death and resurrection of our Lord is something we often forget. When faced with tribulations and problems, we often believe that God is punishing us for the sins that we have committed.

What we have forgotten is that God knows our weaknesses and understands our infirmities. He does not judge us by our sins nor does he repay our infirmities. As the heavens is far from the earth, so his ways are different from our ways. The Bible says that as the East is from the West, so has he removed our sins from us. That his blood has given us the power to boldly come to the throne of grace to ask for forgiveness. Whilst we have the one who accuses us, Christ looks for his lost sheep to save them from sins. Because Christ has redeemed us from sins and now we are resurrected from sins unto righteousness.

God has not just redeemed us, he has also given us the Holy Ghost that quickens us, counsels us and showeth all things to God. That is why he said to his disciples, “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.” (John 16:7). And we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

Christ is the hope of our glory, the lifter up of our head; for in his death and resurrection is our victory.
